The Importance of the Student Agenda

On the first day of school (July 19th!!) students will come home with their student agenda.

This is a very important tool for two main reasons:
  • It is an organizational tool for students. They will copy their objectives and homework daily and should refer to it each night.
  • It is a communication tool for parents. At the front of the agenda you will find the student handbook that can answer almost any question you may have. You will also find the PRIDE pages where the program is explained in detail and you can see how successful your child was with the PRIDE program daily.
No matter how organized your child is, I strongly suggest that you review his or her agenda each night so see what is being learned and how he or she did with the PRIDE program.

Capri Sun Pouches

It probably feels like I need all of your trash....but if you drink Capri Sun out of those shiny pouches, I'd love to have you donate your empty pouches to us instead of sending them to the landfill.

As a service project, the 6th grade NJHS will be collecting the drink pouches and turning them into pencil-pouches. We will then be donating the pencil-pouches and other school supplies to an orphanage in Mexico.

We'd appreciate your trash!

But, please, throw the straw away. Yuck!

Our Classroom Needs....

For an upcoming project we are in need of the advertisements from your newspaper, especially "home" stores such as: Best Buy, Home Depot, Target, IKEA, Sears, etc.

We also need donations of 3x5 index cards. Thank you to those who have already donated! If we get an average of 1 package per student we will be in good shape!

Thank you for helping with these needs when you are able.

I will happily trade some Q4 tickets for these items!

Relay for Life

Rincon Vista has started a team for Relay for Life and I am on it!

Relay for Life is a 12 hour relay race (around the track at Empire). The goal is to raise awareness about cancer and raise funds to aid the fight against cancer.

If you are interested, there are a couple ways to help raise the funds.

1) For the next 2 weeks we are selling t-shirts (pictured below) for $10 each. The entire $10 will go to the American Cancer Society. Students and staff will be encouraged to wear their Ninja shirts on specified days.

2) Visit the website HERE and donate a luminaria "In Honor Of" or "In Memory Of" a cancer survivor/victim.

Chick-Fil-A Night!

The Washington DC Club is hosting a fundraising night at Chick-Fil-A at El Con Mall this Thursday from 4-9pm. Students were given a flyer today. I plan on being there with my family at about 5:00 and would love to see a lot of students there. If you go, bring me your receipt on Friday for some Q4 tickets!
